Our partners at Plant Parts have announced an exciting new development at their UK, Suffolk headquarters — the installation of a state-of-the-art hydraulic motor testing facility set to launch this spring.
Known as “The Rig,” this advanced system has been purpose-built to test swing drives and final drives, and is expected to be one of the most capable hydraulic motor testing facilities of its kind in Europe. Once operational, it will significantly enhance the way hydraulic motors are tested, repaired, and validated giving the FDC network an even greater advantage when supporting their customers.

Why This Matters
For more than 30 years, Plant Parts has supported the construction and heavy equipment industries by supplying parts and repairs across more than 150 machinery brands. This new facility represents the next step in that commitment.
With The Rig, every repaired hydraulic motor will be tested under controlled, real-world operating conditions. Key capabilities will include:
- Performance verification against OEM specifications
- Individual load testing for each motor
- Energy-efficient regenerative testing systems
- Automated operation designed for single-operator use
This purpose-built facility strengthens the link between Plant Parts’ workshop and parts operations, ensuring every motor leaving the workshop meets the highest standards of reliability and performance.

Building on Decades of Expertise
Plant Parts has specialised in hydrostatic diagnostics, repair, and reconditioning since 2008. The addition of The Rig builds on this experience, enabling deeper performance analysis, more precise repairs, and greater quality assurance.
The new facility will also enhance their global service offering. Components regularly arrive at the workshop from across the world, and with EU Inward Processing Authorisation and free UK collection available, Plant Parts is well positioned to test, repair, and return equipment internationally.

A Landmark Investment
This £1 million project represents the largest single investment in Plant Parts’ 30-year history. It reflects the increasing technical demands of modern heavy machinery and the growing need for accurate, data-driven testing in the aftermarket sector.
Looking Ahead
Once fully operational, The Rig will be available to customers, partners, and dealers. Plant Parts will also be sharing updates, technical insights, and behind-the-scenes content as the installation and commissioning process progresses.

For industries where machine downtime can be extremely costly — including mining, demolition, quarrying, heavy civil engineering, and waste management — this investment promises greater reliability, transparency, and precision in hydraulic motor repair and testing.
